Day 1, Wed: Embark Ushuaia Check in for the cruise at the Australis office and leave your luggage.You will then have time to explore Ushuaia on your own before making the short walk to the pier to commence your exciting adventure on board the Australis cruise around the southern tip of South America to Punta Arenas, Chile. (D)
Day 2, Thu: Cape Horn and Walaia Bay Special navigation into the Beagle and Murray Channels into the open sea to circle Cape Horn, with an opportunity to visit the southernmost point in South America, weather permitting. Here you will get a panoramic view of the famous and mythical Cape Horn, the place where the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans near the glacier. After this unforgettable experience, you will continue navigating through O'Brien and Ballenero Channels, Bahía Desolada, Paso Aguirre and Cockburn Channel. (B, L, D)
Day 3, Fri: De Agostini Sound and Aguila Glacier You will be sailing through Brecknock, Ocasión, Cockburn, and Magdalena Channels to enter the spectacular De Agostini Sound, in the heart of the Darwin Mountain Range. This is where you will see glaciers sliding down the mountainside all the way to the sea. In the afternoon, you will travel to the Águila Glacier in Zodiaks, where you will embark upon an easy walk to its base. It’s the perfect opportunity to experience the beauty of Patagonia’s cold rainforest and to see how the power of nature has molded the spectacular landscape. (B, L, D)
Day 4, Sat: Arrive in Punta Arenas Early in the morning you will disembark on Magdalena Island (weather permitting!), home of a colony of over 120,000 penguins in different stages of breeding. You will then take a walk to San Isidro Lighthouse, that used to guide the explorer sailors crossing the Strait of Magellan. Afterwards you sail into Punta Arenas, arriving at 11:00 am. (B)

Day 1, Sat: Embark Punta Arenas 6.00 pm -7.00 pm: Boarding M/V Via Australis expedition cruise ship. The crew, headed by the Captain, will welcome you aboard for cocktails with your cruise companions, the beginning of a great adventure. (D)
Day 2, Sun: Ainswroth Bay & Tucker Islets At dawn, you will navigate through Almirantazgo Sound, arriving at Ainsworth Bay, within Alberto De Agostini National Park. It’s the perfect spot from which to see the Marinelli Glacier descending from the Darwin Mountain Range; and to appreciate how the land returns to life after glacial retreat. You will also take a walk to a beaver dam in the stunning sub-polar Magellan Forest. Whether on the beach or the island, there’s a good chance of sighting Southern Elephant Seals. But do bear in mind the fact that sightings cannot be guaranteed due to the colony’s unpredictable movements. Later, you will be sailing to Tuckers Islets, and after lunch, you will board the Zodiacs to get close to a colony of Magellan Penguins (indigenous to the Southern Hemisphere) and cormorants. In September and April, this excursion is replaced by a short walk to a nearby glacier at Brookes Bay. (B, L, D)
Day 3, Mon: Pia Glacier and Glacier Alley During the morning you will travel in Zodiacs to the Águila Glacier where you will embark upon an easy walk to its base. It’s the perfect opportunity to experience the beauty of Patagonia’s cold rainforest and to see how the power of nature has molded the spectacular landscape. In the afternoon, you will be sailing through Brecknock, Ocasión, Cockburn, and Magdalena Channels to enter the spectacular De Agostini Sound, in the heart of the Darwin Mountain Range (left).
