Note:
Day 1: Cuzco to Puno by Coach
On this full-day trip you will visit remote cultural centers, transit
the altiplano,
or the high plains of the Andes Mountains and end in Puno on the shores
of Lake
Titicaca. The well-equipped motorcoach
has multi-lingual hostesses, a restroom and video. You'll make stops en
route at the village of Anadahuaylillas,
noted for its colonial chapel with beautiful creole frescoes, and Raqchi,
where a 10 km. Inca wall surrounds the temple
of the god Wiracocha. After a buffet
luncheon served at La Raya, you'll make a stop at Pucara
to explore the terraces, temples and sunken patios from the Pucara culture,
which flourished around 200 B. C. (B, L)
Day 2: Puno to the Sun Island
Today commences a fascinating two-day crossing of Lake Titicaca to Bolivia.
Begin with a motorcoach drive along the western shores of Lake Titicaca
to Copacabana,
where you'll stop to visit the Shrine
of the Indian Virgin. Then continue your
trip with a cruise on the lake to Sun
Island, legendary birthplace of the Inca Empire. You'll visit the Pilcocaina
Sun Temple before a 25-minute trek, ascending
to the Posada
del Inca. Llamas will porter your
luggage for you! Lunch, dinner and overnight on Sun Island with magnificent
views of the lake and the snow-capped Royal

Day 3: Sun Island to La Paz After
breakfast, you'll descend to the harbor for a hydrofoil cruise to Moon
Island to visit the Temple
of the Sun Virgins. Then
continue your cruise to Huatajata
on the eastern shore of Lake Titicaca. Visit the Altiplano
Museum and the Andean
Roots Cultural Complex where you will
see a full size reproduction of Thor
Heyerdahl's Ra II and the mortuary
towers (chullpas) from several different
periods. Late afternoon motorcoach to La Paz. (B, L)
Day
4: La Paz City Tour & Tiahuanacu Ruins Tour
Enjoy a morning tour of La Paz,
including the Indian Market
and the fascinating Witches' Market.
Then leave the city center for the suburb of Miraflores
to see the outdoor Tiahuanacu Museum
referred to as Museo Subterraneo.
Afterwards, visit the Valley of the
Moon, where wind and water erosion
have created an eerie, lunar-like landscape. In the afternoon, you will
take a tour to the ruins of Tiahuanacu,
an ancient, vast and highly advanced civilization that flourished around
Lake Titicaca and the altiplano centuries before the Inca Empire. (B)
Day 5: Homeward Bound
Day 1: Cuzco to Puno
Board the Peru Orient-Express
train for Puno to journey eight hours through terraced
valleys and onto the stark altiplano,
or high plain, surrounding Lake Titicaca.
This deluxe day train has VistaDome
coaches, a deluxe dining car and an antique
bar coach. Evening

Day 2: Puno to the Sun Island

Utama Hotel with scenic lake-view
rooms. This evening, you will enjoy a romantic candlelight dinner and
an audiovisual presentation of the Mystic
World of the Kallawayas before finally

Day 4: Lake Titicaca to La Paz
Depart after breakfast onto the altiplano
to visit the ruins of Tiahuanacu, an ancient, vast and highly advanced civilization
that flourished around Lake Titicaca and the altiplano centuries before
the Inca Empire. A boxed lunch will be provided before your transfer to
La Paz and your hotel. (B, L)
Day 5: La
Paz City Tour & Tiahuanacu Ruins Tour
Enjoy a morning tour of La Paz,
including the Indian Market
and the fascinating Witches' Market.
Then leave the city center for the suburb of Miraflores
