Day 1: Arrive San Jose, Costa Rica
Transfer to your selected hotel.
Day 2: San Jose/Tortuguero
Morning departure via motorcoach to the Caribbean
coast, with a stop en route for breakfast.
Then
take a boat trip along the Tortuguero
canals (below, left) through densely vegetated
areas in search of alligators, monkeys and birds. Arrival
at Mawamba
Lodge in time for lunch. After lunch
visit the village of Tortuguero
and the Turtle Research & Conservation

Day
3: Tortuguero All day at Tortuguero, including
nature tours or optional fishing expeditions. During nesting season (JUL-OCT),
you can go to observe the sea turtles laying eggs on the beach by night
or see newly-hatched baby turtles scrambling toward the sea. (B, L, D)
Day 4: Tortuguero/Arenal
Transfer by boat back to Matina Pier, where
you board the Mawamba bus to San Jose. Before
arriving in San Jose you will be dropped off at the town of Guapiles,
where your van and driver will be waiting to transfer you to Arenal. The
two-hour transfer takes you through the beautiful San
Carlos Valley. Overnight
at your selected hotel. (B, L)

5: Arenal Leisure day for optional
tours. (B)
Day 6: Arenal/Monteverde
After breakfast depart for a two-hour transfer to Monteverde via boat crossing
Lake Arenal and then taxi to Monteverde. Accommodations in selected hotel.

7: Monteverde Morning hike through Monteverde
Cloud Forest Reserve, viewing the misty forest
with its dense vegetation. Visit the Hummingbird
Gallery and Cheese
Factory. Afternoon at leisure for optional
tours. (B)
Day 8: Monteverde/San Jose
Morning departure for a two-hour shuttle bus transfer to San
Jose with driver. Overnight at selected hotel.

Day 9: Depart San Jose
Transfer to the airport, or extend your stay in Costa Rica with additional

Day 1: Arrive San Jose, Costa Rica Transfer to your selected hotel.
Day 2: San Jose/Pacuare Lodge Early morning pick up in San Jose by a Costa Rica Nature Adventures representative and transfer (approximately 2½ hours) to the Pacuare River put-in including a typical Costa Rican breakfast in route. Exciting 1-1½ hour river rafting tour to the Pacuare Lodge (class II-III rapids) where you will enjoy your stay at Costa Rica's premier eco-lodge. Arrival at the Pacuare Lodge 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. After lunch participate in an optional canopy tour (not included in package price) or waterfall hike, or simply relax in your private bungalow or suite. Dine on gourmet delicacies by candlelight and then visit the upstairs lounge for a cocktail or refreshment before retiring to a restful night's sleep. (B, L, D)
Day 3: Pacuare Lodge You'll wake up to bird song and the soothing sound of the river nearby. Then head over to the main lodge for a delicious breakfast of homemade bread, tropical fruits, yogurt, eggs, pancakes, cereal, juice and coffee. The lodge employs a resident naturalist guide who will provide unique insights into the plant and animal world. Choose from exciting optional tours (NOT included) that include guided hikes through an emerald rainforest, the Cabecar Indian tour - where visitors may participate in a cultural exchange with a shaman and the Adventure Canopy Tour - where visitors glide amid a tropical rainforest canopy. Day 4: Pacuare Lodge/Arenal Departure between 9:00-10:00 a.m., and transfer to Rancho Robeto's Restaurant in Guapiles, where your driver will be waiting for you. After lunch your private vehicle and driver will be waiting for you to transfer you to Arenal. (B, L)
