Antigua,
former Spanish colonial capital city of the Central American viceroyalty, was
founded in 1543. Though partially destroyed by the 1773 earthquake, it
still preserves its colonial character with ornate churches, convents
and Spanish-style homes. It is also home
to some of the best quality arts and crafts in the country a "must see" on any trip to Guatemala.

Mayan pyramids stand as timeless monuments
to a mysterious past in the jungle of Guatemala |
Approximately
190 miles north of Guatemala City, in a jungle-choked region
called the Peten, lie the astonishing ruins of Tikal, principal
city of the Maya people. The Maya civilization extended
from what is today Yucatan, Mexico throughout Guatemala,
and thrived from 600 B.C. to about 900 A.D. At its height,
Tikal had over three thousand stone structures and supported
over one million inhabitants within the city and its surrounding
area, and
is the most grandiose of all pre-Columbian Mayan ruins.
Tikal Tours Include:
Breakfast and taxes at hotels
Motorcoach tour of Tikal ruins with English-speaking
guide & lunch
