The
Jungle Lodge Hotel (Posada de la Selva) was established in 1956
by Mr. Antonio Ortiz Contreras (the discoverer of the Temple of
the Inscriptions in 1951). The lodge is just a ten-minute walk from
the ceremonial center of Tikal. The hotel has undergone renovations
in recent years in order to adjust to the modern standards of comfort
and hospitality. The Jungle Lodge Hotel's gardens offer tourists
a spectacular environment with their varied flora and fauna. Among
the animal species that can be found in the gardens are coati, wildcats,
parrots, macaws, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, crested guans,
golden orioles, and ocellated turkeys, to name a few. The facilities
include a bar, restaurant, gift shop and inviting swimming pool.
There are a total of 36 Bungalows and two Junior Suites. The Junior
Suites feature one king bed, a double sofa bed, a ceiling fan, and
private bathroom with tub and shower with hot and cold water. The
Bungalows have two comfortable double beds, a ceiling fan, and private

and comfortable stay at the Jungle Lodge Hotel, Tikal, while visiting
one of the world's great archaeological monuments. |
